AFTER THE MATCH: DISAPPOINTMENT FOR THE DRAW
Neither the French, nor the Lithuanians are satisfied with the draw (20-20), both were hoping for a victory. The French coach, Costantini, comments: " Lithuana played with courage and guessed the right strategy: it was the first match in the European Championship, we still lack harmony. We have in fact only five Veteran players in the team, who won the championship in 1995; for the other eight this is the first experience on a high level. If they don’t develop quickly, we will face difficulties. If Lithuania continues to play like this, France will be in trouble, if, however, they don’t manage to maintain this level, we have great possibilities."
Instead of being pleased about the earned point in the last second, the Lithuanian coach, Novickis, laments the loss of a point: "We could have won, but the emotions, due to our first appearence on such a level, blocked us. My players are excellent, our handball is at a high level, but the players still have to gain experience."
What is the reason behind the Lithuanians razored heads? "It was a spontaneous decision of our players after lunch."
