EHF: Finals promise to be exciting

EHF secretary-general Michael Wiederer summarises the first three days of the championship: "The favourites have pulled ahead, the strong performance of Germany, especially, supported by their numerous fans, was a positive surprise. The last two days of the preliminary round on July, 3 and 4 promise to be exciting."

The third and fourth day at a European Championship are always of special importance. The top teams are eager to secure their entry into the semi-finals.

The hall in Merano was finished in the last minutes. The organising committee finally had the upper hand of the chaos. By making a supreme effort, the OC could get everything ready in time.

Innovations like the new surface with reduced court-lines and the new balls were welcomed by the teams and were reported on positively by the media.
