European Championship of Handball: German Team plays with black ribbons
In their last preliminary match against Lithuania (8 p.m. in Merano) at the
European Championship in Italy, the German national team, will recall the
victims of the train catastrophe in Eschede in Lower Saxony with a one minute
silence and black ribbons,. The team around Federal Coach Heiner Brand thus
wants to express their sympathy for the grief in Germany. A corresponding
request has been directed to the European Handball Federation (EHF) by the
German Handball Federation (DHB). The successful German players took notice of
the tragic accident in their host region South Tyrol with helplessness and deep
consternation. This section of the Intercity-Express is regularly used by German
teams during the Federal Championships.
