BRAND (GER)
I would like to congratulate the Spanish team. Today they played better and
really deserve the victory. It goes without saying that the match did not come
up to my expectations. In the offense we lacked pressure and made many mistakes
that could have been avoided. In the defense, however, we showed a really sensational
performance, mostly with Jan Holpert's strong backing. Spain took advantage
of our mistakes and decided the match with fast-breaks. I wish that we as well
Spain will be able to win our matches tomorrow.
SECO (ESP)
I was aware that Germany was a strong team. The excellent physical performance
of my players was vital for our victory, our defense and our fast-breaks were
the key to our success. Our team simply played better an deserves this victory.
I have to admit, however, that the German goalkeeper showed an outstanding performance.
I really have to pay the German team a compliment.
