Sweden-Russia 27-24

Bengt Johansson (Swedish Coach)
The games against Russia are always very difficult. We had problems in our attack, but then Wislander and Sivertsen came into their own. I made the right decision when I changed Gentzel, the best goalkeeper at the Europeans, with Stankiewicz. From that moment on the match changed. At halftime everyone thought that we were going to lose, but we were lucky in our defence and the Russian players were very tired which I think is one of the reasons why we won. Today we won and tomorrow we are even going to win against Spain . I admire the counter attack of the Spanish players and their goalkeeper Barrufet. We look forward to playing and want to beat Dujshebaiev.

Vladimir Maximor (Russian coach)
Sweden played better in the last part of the game which is why they won. My players are still very young, so I think they played very well, but their lack of experience let them down. When one loses one is obviously never happy. These things happen: today you lose, tomorrow you win. But tomorrow we want at least the bronze medal.
